In the acid attack case involving a 20-year-old DU student, the Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested her father and brother for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy.

The police arrested Akeel Khan, the father, and Wakil Khan, the brother, but have not taken any action against the girl student so far.

“The female DU student is also an alleged accused in the eyes of the police. As of now, we have not taken action against her. It was a conspiracy hatched by her father to target three persons, Jitender, Arman, and Ishan. Her brother Wakil also supported them in the entire plot,” said a senior police official.

Akeel Khan poured toilet cleaner on the hands of his daughter, he said, adding she was then taken to a hospital. As per the plan, the DU student later accused Jitender, Ishan, and Arman of throwing acid on her.

During the course of the investigation, the police learned that Akeel Khan had allegedly raped Jitender’s wife and was pressurising her to settle the case she had filed against him. When she did not buckle under pressure, Khan hatched the entire plan.

Akeel Khan was arrested on Tuesday and was remanded to one-day police custody.
